The company used to be amazing but has been ruined by new chiefs. They will do anything just fill the home and take residents that are not suited for that environment and may cause harm to residents already there. I worked for this company for many years sadly when the then owner retired it was taken over by people that do not care about their staff.Ĭertainly not their residents, they became just a number. I would recommend working for barchester but just be warned you work really hard but it is rewarding when a resident hugs you if only our managers appreciated us for our hard work and not just count the number of staff on shift. Unfortunately over time our home has had many managers so things change and change again and staff have come and go fairly quick sometimes which means we're working short staffed alot but we carry on. I love my job and my team and most of all my residents we're all like one big family it's great but what's not so great is how us as carers are treated by the management. Over the yrs I have seen the many changes not always for the gd but never the less we carried on delivering the best care we can. We’d really appreciate it if you could please give us more details by emailing us, in confidence, at I have worked for barchester for a long time now I am in my second home due to relocation afew yrs back and it was a smooth transfer which was great. Whilst we don’t think your experience is common at Barchester, if it’s happening anywhere, we need to put it right. Providing the highest levels of care and support is what our success has been built on, so it’s incredibly disappointing to hear that you feel this was lacking. On a good note the care assistants and housekeepers were all wonderful to be around!! 13 August 2018 We’re really sorry to hear that you feel let down – we always want to ensure our employees are happy in their role. The manager of the home was not very supportive once I had informed them of a recent health problem, there was nothing put in place to alleviate my back problem, still expected to spend up to 5-6 hours bent over a sink, kitchen manager was was not very understanding either.

The purpose of the procedure is to achieve improvements in. 'The disciplinary procedure is explained in the Employee Handbook. What this job description doesn't say is that on most days you spend up to 5-6 hours bent over a sink which is way too low for most people, hence terrible strain on your back!! Second chef was lovely and great to work with and the other kitchen assistants were great to work with also.
